Buri Beach Resort
Buri Beach Resort is part of the Best Western Hotel chain. The hotel has slightly re-branded. It was formerly known as Best Western Phanganburi Resort. It is a 3 star hotel resort that has comfortable rooms, efficient staff and good facilities. For those looking for an ‘international’ quality hotel rather than a local hotel or a boutique hotel the Buri Beach Resort is a good option.
Located on the quieter Haad Rin Nai beach near the entrance to Haad Rin, Buri Beach Resort is close to the main bars and restaurants of Haad Rin Town. It is about a 10 minutes’ walk to Haad Rin Nok and the Full Moon Party. For many the advantage of the Buri Beach Hotel is that it is close to the action but not noisy at night.
As well as the name change, the Buri Beach Resort has had a major refurbishment. This is a major plus as many Haad Rin luxury rooms become shabby and less than luxury over time.
Here are the accommodation options at Buri Beach Resort:
- Deluxe Room – 61 units. 25 to 28 square meters. These rooms have garden views
- Cottage – 24 units. 30 square meters. Slightly bigger, stand-alone cottages with garden views
- Beach Side Cottage – 5 units. 30 square meters. Same as the cottage but with views of Haad Rin Nai Beach
All rooms are either twins or have a double bed. They are all recently re-furbished and have air-con, hot water, satellite TV and safety deposit boxes. All rooms have access to free wifi. All rooms have shower and some have shower and bath tub combination.
Room prices include a free buffet breakfast. An added convenience is the 7-11 shop just next door. Room prices start at 1,400 THB. The minimum stay for the Full Moon Party is 5 nights.
The hotel features a large swimming pool overlooking the beach. The pool area has plenty of sun loungers and a bar and restaurant nearby. The restaurant serves a good selection of Thai food, Western standards as well as BBQ meat and fresh seafood.
There is also a spa offering Thai massage, oil massage and herbal steam sauna. A fitness centre is on the premises for all those looking for a bit of a work out.
Room service, luggage storage, meeting facilities and car hire are also available.
Buri Beach Resort can be classified as ‘beachfront’ but the beach is not that great. It is the smaller sunset beach that offers wonderful sunsets but it is not ideal for swimming or sunbathing. The better Haad Rin Nok is a short walk from the hotel.
The hotel has been running for many years. The staff are efficient and speak good English. They endeavour to make their guests as comfortable as possible.
Buri Beach Resort has lots of good reviews from satisfied customers. People are happy with the room, facilities, staff and location.
The few complaints include the higher prices for the restaurant, long waiting times for food and a dead dog in the pool. It is interesting to notice on TA that the management has unique responses to compliments but re-use the same response for every complaint. Despite the Best Western front there is something still slightly parochial and ‘Koh Phangan’ about the running of the hotel. That’s Koh Phangan for you.
Buri Beach Resort is easy to find. It is next to the 7-11 at the start of Haad Rin as you enter by road. Taxi drivers might still know the place as Best Western Phanganburi Resort.
