Nira’s Home Bakery
Nira’s Home Bakery Haad Rin
There are 3 Nira’s in Koh Phangan. The first is on the Baan Tai road, the second is in Thongsala just opposite the Lomprayah pier, and the latest one is in Haad Rin. The Haad Rin branch is the smallest of the three shops and so has the smallest selection of food items. Nevertheless, it remains the best place to get freshly made bread and deli counter items in Haad Rin.
Nira’s has become something of an institution in Koh Phangan. For years long term residents grumbled about the sweetened bread found in shops. Then Nira’s arrived in the 2000s and at last there was a source of decent homemade bread. From the humble beginnings of one shop, Nira has branched out over the island and maintains its high standards.
You can buy bread to take away or you can order food and drink to eat in. The Haad Rin shop has a small table outside for those eating in.
They serve sandwiches made to order. You can get bagels, baguettes, sandwiches and open top sandwiches. They have a number of delicious fillings including cream cheese and smoked salmon. They also have pastries and cake.
Lots of people grab breakfast or brunch at Nira’s Home Bakery. Here is a place where you are mostly likely to satisfy your cravings for Western food. Those keen on fruit smoothies they make great fruit drinks with the option of supplements such as protein powder and flax oil.
Naturally they have coffee and tea made with fresh milk. The coffee isn’t Italian quality but it isn’t bad at all.
The staff are friendly and efficient at Nira’s Home Bakery in Haad Rin. They speak a bit of English and get your order out promptly. The comment section on Trip Advisor for the Thongsala branch is made up of 90% positive comments.
For many holiday makers faced with a tummy bug or the hangover from hell, the thought of Thai food is hard to stomach. If you are in need of comfort food like back home, Nira’s is the place to head.
