Outback Bar is Haad Rin’s version of an Aussie theme bar. It is a slightly less hectic bar than those fronting the beach. It has ice cold beer, some Western classics on the menu and of course lots of live sports on TV.
The bar has been going for several years now. It has become one of the iconic Haad Rin bars. Located on the corner of the pier road and the road that runs parallel to Haad Rin Nai, the bar has an open front with vines growing. The bar is open at the front. You enter into the shadows from the bright daylight and find a world of comfy tables and chairs, TV screens and a bar. It is not a big bar and so even a few people drinking and eating tends to fill the bar and give it some ‘atmosphere’.
Rather than being a full on ‘party bar’ with loud DJ music, dancing on the tables and massive bucket imbibing, Outback Bar is for those who like a bit of a relaxed drink. It is also for sports fans. They show Prem League Football, cricket, rugby etc.
There is also a pool table for those who like doing as well as watching sport.
Beers available include draught Guinness and cider. They have a wide range of spirits and the bar tender can usually rustle up most cocktails requested.
Another drawcard for the bar is the food. This is no nonsense food with large portions – English breakfast, roast dinner, pies, Irish stew, bangers and mash. This is serious comfort food from back home and great for soaking up the alcohol still coursing through the body after a FMP.
The one curious thing about Outback Bar is that it’s not on Trip Advisor. Many less successful places are listed.
